Elevate Your Feed: Crafting a Professional, Inspirational Online Presence

It never fails to startle me when I see people spouting racist, sexist, homophobic, or just plain mean comments on social media. They do this even on LinkedIn, which plainly states their employers!

Social media can be a help or a fail. It can divide and cause conflict, or it can inspire connection and lift people’s spirits. I’ve made meaningful connections with people solely through social media.

Because the Internet is forever, what you say today can haunt you for years to come. Think before you post and comment. Don’t disparage your boss, coworkers, or former friends or family online…no matter how grievously someone has offended you.

As Saint Maya Angelou said, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”

What you give out comes back. If you want to get the most out of social media, share helpful, inspirational information. Clean up your social media feeds by watching for red flags and toxic messaging and disconnecting with negative people.

It’s not hard to elevate your feed throughout social media. Follow these tips:

  • Be authentic and vulnerable: Share your experiences and insights to foster genuine connections.

  • Stay positive: Be uplifting, constructive, and respectful of others.

  • Share valuable content: Post articles, tips, and resources that benefit your audience.

  • Showcase achievements: Celebrate milestones and successes, inspiring others to pursue their goals.

Here are a few reasons why elevating your feed is important:

  • First impressions: What will potential employers, clients, or friends see when they search your social media feed? A positive online presence sets the tone for how others perceive you.

  • Trust and credibility: Sharing valuable insights and maintaining a respectful tone makes people more likely to view you as trustworthy and credible.

  • Positive impact: Personal stories, lessons learned, and motivational messages can inspire others and cultivate a more positive, encouraging online community.

  • Graceful resilience: How you respond to challenges and address criticism defines who you are. Showing grace and professionalism demonstrates you are a composed and thoughtful person.

  • Relationship building: Social media can be an excellent place for networking. A professional, positive presence will attract like-minded professionals and could result in opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and learning.

  • Distinction: Positioning yourself as a motivational person distinguishes you from others. Your unique blend of expertise and positivity will make you stand out to those looking for reliable and uplifting content.

  • Positive echoes: Positive content is more likely to be shared, liked, and commented on, amplifying your reach to a wider audience. As your following grows, so does your influence, allowing you to make a greater impact.
