New partners: Cultural Advocacy Coalition of Oregon and Oxley & Associates

Updated: Feb 21, 2022

New partnership with Cultural Advocacy Coalition of Oregon and Oxley & Associates

I'm excited to announce a new client: the Cultural Advocacy Coalition of Oregon (CACO), which advocates for policies and funding that will create a thriving environment for arts, culture, history, heritage, and humanities across Oregon. Here's the post on their website.

I will work with CACO's senior advisor, their board, and their new lobbyist firm, Oxley & Associates, Inc. Oxley is an independent public affairs and government relations firm specializing in state and local legislative and regulatory issues.

The primary mission of CACO is to increase ongoing public investment in arts, culture, history, heritage, and humanities. Volunteers serve on the Board of Directors and include representatives from a broad number of interests to best represent the diverse mix of Oregon’s cultural community.

Close to my heart, CACO has an equity commitment, and I'm excited to help them implement communications through an equity lens:

The Cultural Advocacy Coalition of Oregon is committed to cultural equity and strives to embody values, policies, and practices that ensure that all people—including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented based on race, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion—are represented in the development of arts policy; the support of artists; the nurturing of accessible, thriving venues for expression; and the fair distribution of programmatic, financial, and informational resources.

I am passionate about music, theater, books, history, and all forms of culture. Two out of three of my sons are theater kids, and all of them are musical. I am excited to help CACO and Oxley advance the cause of arts, culture, and humanities in Oregon!

“Oregon’s arts and culture continue to attract top talent to help move our state into the category of states that invest the most to support this important work,” said CACO senior advisor Sue Hildick. “We are thrilled to add the Oxley team and Marie to our group of colleagues who want this sector to be as strong as possible.”
